Fern L. Odette was born on April 1, 1924 in Cloud Co., Kansas to Clarence & Velma (Duff) Hudsonpillar. She passed from this life on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Park Villa Nursing Home, Clyde, KS at the age of 86. Fern attended school in Concordia. She married Francis Odette on Feb. 7, 1941 in Salina, KS. He preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1994. They returned to Clyde, KS in 1944 and operated the Odette Dairy for 17 years. Fern also assisted Francis in his livestock operation for the John Morrell Co. They later purchased the Ideal Market and operated it until 1966. Fern was a homemaker, farm wife & always assisted Francis in their endeavors. She was a member of the Clyde Christian Church, Kansas Paint Horse Assoc., where she served as the Director & Club Sec., E.H.U. & was an adult 4-H leader with the Elk Creek Club. She is survived by her daughters: Carole Lagasse & husband O.L., Clyde, KS & Marcia Lanoue & husband Gary, Salina, KS; sisters: Nell Houser, Wichita, KS & Leta Paque, Wichita, KS; 3 grandchildren & 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; parents; brothers, John & Don Hudsonpillar; sisters, Ruth Farha, Audrey Hofflinger & Wilma Harbour & grandson, Jeff Callihan. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the Clyde Christian Church, Clyde, KS with Rev. Fred Applegarth officiating. The casket will remain closed but friends may sign the register book from 2-8 PM, Wed. at Chaput Mortuary, Clyde. Burial will follow the services at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Clyde, KS. The family suggests memorials to the Clyde Christian Church, Meadowlark Hospice or Park Villa Nursing Home.
