Obituary

Floyd O. Snavely was born on Sept. 25, 1920 in Rice, Kansas to Franklin F. and Eunice E. Owen Snavely.  He passed from this life on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Mount Joseph Senior Community in Concordia, KS at the age of 87.  He married Mildred M. Jack on April 6, 1940 at the Cloud Co. Courthouse in Concordia, KS by Judge E.W. Thompson.  He graduated from the 8th grade at Nelson Center School, he then attended Concordia High School.  He worked several farming jobs before going to work for Charles Blosser in 1942.  He left for a tour of duty with the US Army on June 1, 1944 during WWII.  Upon returning from the war, he went back to work for Charles Blosser and continued to work for him for over 50 years.  He was a member of the former Nazarene Church in Concordia and later attended the Wesleyan Church.  He was a former member of the American Legion Post #76.  He is survived by his wife, Mildred, Concordia; sons, Duane Snavely and wife Jane, Oklahoma City, OK, Lloyd Snavely and wife Mary, Steven Snavely and wife Janet, both of Concordia, KS; daughters, Diane Knuckles and husband Robert Malakoff, TX, Mardell Snavely, Concordia, KS and Annette Bartlett and husband Randy, Assaria, KS; daughter in law, Janet Snavely, Concordia, KS; sister, Alberta L. Burnett, Nixa, MO; brother, James O. Snavely, Sedalia, MO; grandchilren, Heidi Snavely, Heather Bullock and husband Darren, Troy Spencer and wife Susan, Michael Spencer and fiance Bonnie Tsang, Michelle Sparks and husband Billy, Lisa Widen and husband Jeff, Linden Snavely and wife Julie, Chasta Crough and husband Justin, Ambrea Snavely and fiance Jim Chartier, Brandon Snavely, Mike Hale-Snavely, Lindsay Snavely, Kena Dee Snavely, James F. Snavely, Randy Bartlett and Ryan Bartlett and wife Rachel; step grandchildren, Adrian Knuckles, Andrew Hale, Donnie Johnson, Connie Rawson, Brenda Buss, Barbara Staton, Babbette Staton, Robert J. Maple, Jr., Dorinda and Belinda Maple and Barry Maple; great grandchildren, Keegan, Kinzie and Karsyn Bullock, Holden and Curston Sparks, Gerrick Spencer, Ashley Spencer, Tyler and Kora Snavely, Logan and McKenzie Widen, Gannon and Cameron Crough and Keeton and Ambrianna Snavely.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Leland; sister, Edna Gray; brothers, Leonard and Wilbur Snavely; grandsons, Tommy H. Spencer and Steven Richard Snavely.  Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, June 23, 2008 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held from 2-9 PM with the family greeting friends from 7-8 PM Sunday, June 22 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.  Burial will follow the services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia.  The family suggests memorials to the donor's choice.
