Frances Elizabeth (Peterson) Palmquist, age 99, died Friday, Oct. 30, 2015 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia, KS. She was born Dec. 23, 1915, on the family farm in the township of Brantford, Washington Co., KS to Oscar & Ida (Olson) Peterson.
She attended country grade schools and Clyde High School, graduating in 1932. She married Robert A. Palmquist on January 20, 1937. Frances worked at Sunset Home after high school in the laundry area and in the Swedish Dining Room. After marrying, she was a mother to Richard & Martha while they were growing up. She returned to work at The Gift Shop, Nault's Jewelry and part-time at JC Penney. She was an active member of The Baptist Church. She was involved as a Sunday School teacher, a deaconess, and in the American Baptist Women, especially in the White Cross ministry. Frances and Bob were Community Leaders for the Republican Valley 4-H club when Richard and Martha were members. She also was the Sewing Leader, helping the girls learn to sew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert in 1995; her sisters, Lillian, Signe, Bertha & Alice & brothers, Perry, Iver & Ted.
She is survived by her son, Richard (Linda) Palmquist; daughter, Martha (Ron) Peterson; grandsons, Tim (Maureen) Palmquist & Brian (Trisha) Peterson; granddaughters, Tammy (Kevin) Mitchell, Cathy (Pat) Carnazzo; great grandsons, Brett (Bella) Palmquist, Chad Palmquist, Derek & Daniel Peterson & Giovanni Carnazzo; great granddaughters, Lauren (Thanh) Orr, Megan Palmquist & Taylor & Nicole Carnazzo & great great grandsons, Brett, Jr. & Rhys Palmquist & Kade Palmquist.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Wed., Nov. 4, 2015 at The Baptist Church with Rev. David Fabarez officiating. Burial will follow at the Gotland Cemetery, rural Concordia. Visitation will be from 1-8 pm with the family greeting from 6-8 pm, Tues., Nov. 3, 2015 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Spirit in Victory (ABW) at the Baptist Church or Sunset Nursing Home in care of the funeral home.
