Fred E. Tomlin was born on May 20, 1939 to Thomas and Elaine Liston Tomlin in Hutchinson, Kansas. He passed from this life on Sunday, November 4, 2007 at Cheyenne Lodge Nursing Home, Jamestown, KS at the age of 68 following a long battle with cancer. Fred was a veteran and a member of the Patriot Guard. During his Army career, he served as a paratrooper and combat medic in Southeast Asia in both the 101st Airborne and 327th Division. He received several awards, including the combat medics badge and two purple hearts. He is survived by his wife Carolyn of the home, daughter Tanya Penner and Hus. JT, Sedgwick, KS, step-daughters, Cirsten Engelbach, Jamestown, KS, Holly Dodson and Hus. Steve of Chestertown, MD and Amber Engelbach, Rock Hall, MD, 6 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Phyllis "Penny" Gordon Tomlin. Graveside memorial services are pending at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS. There will be no viewing, the body was cremated. The family suggests memorials to the Fred Tomlin Memorial Fund.
