Geneva May Empson was born Geneva May Smith on May 3, 1931 in Cuba, Kansas to Clark and Cora Ryman Smith.  She passed away from this life on Friday, January 4, 2008 at Mount Joseph Senior Community at the age of 76.  She received her GED and went to Cosmetology School.  She married Francis "Junior" Empson on November 4, 1946 in Wayne, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 16, 2001.  She is survived by sons: David Empson, Ames, Kansas; and Danny Empson, Scandia, Kansas; three daughters: Diana Boling, Concordia, Kansas; Denise Brantley and Husband William, Sulphur Springs, Texas; and Darla Sjoholm and Husband John, Wentzville, Missouri; two sisters Louise Ehlers, Texas; and Elizabeth Henry, Topeka, Kansas; two brothers Hubert Smith and wife Ellen, Derby, Kansas; and Harold E. "Dean" Smith, Belleville, Kansas; sister-in-law Norma Smith; 12 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 3 grandchildren and a brother- Carl Smith.  Services will be at 10:00AM Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Kent Otott officiating.  Visitation will be 9 Am to 9 PM Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 7 PM to 8 PM.  Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Wayne, Kansas.  The family suggests memorials be made to Meadowlark Hospice.
