George F.  Meyer, age 87, entered into rest on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia, Kansas.  George was born on January 3, 1934 in Chapman, Kansas to John and Katherine (Curry) Meyer.

George was a 1951 graduate of Chapman High School.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree from St. Benedict's in Atchison, Kansas.

On August 20, 1957  George married Laura Jo Chaput at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, Kansas.  To this Union four children were born, Tony, Ken, Kevin and Kathy.

George began his teaching career at Concordia Catholic School which later became Notre Dame High School in Concordia where he taught and coached for 12 years.  George then taught Social Studies at USD #333 Public School System for 27 years, and coached various sports.

George was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #1142, both of Concordia.  He was a Pro Life Champion and a Prayer Intercessor.

George's faith and family were his priority.   He was a avid reader, and enjoyed golfing, calligraphy, running, Notre Dame Football, playing cards and most of all spending time with family and friends especially his beloved grandchildren.

George is survived by his wife Laura Jo, of the home in Concordia, 3 sons, Tony Meyer (Lindy), Concordia, KS; and their 7 children, George, Isaac, Erin, Laura, Elizabeth, Clare, and Mary, Ken Meyer, Concordia, KS;  Kevin Meyer (Yvette), Marshalltown, IA; and their 4 children, Brianna, Alexa, Ethan, and Natalie; a daughter, Kathy Meyer, Lawrence, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Katherine Meyer, a grandson, Brendan Meyer, a brother, John Meyer, 2 sisters, Mary Katherine Meyer, and Barbara Jean Boyd.

Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m., Friday, November 19, 2021 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.

A Parish Vigil/Rosary Service will be prayed at 6:00 p.m., on Friday, evening at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home led by Fr. David Metz.  Family will greet friends after the Rosary Service.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021 at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, Kansas.  Burial will follow in the St. Concordia Cemetery, Concordia, Kansas.
