Obituary

Gerald Hart was born in Randall, KS on Oct. 28, 1912 to Jacob L. & Linnie A. (Fitch) Hart. He passed from this life on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Republic County Hospital, Belleville, KS at the age of 96. Gerald grew up on a ranch in Brush Creek, CO and returned to the Randall area when he was 16. He graduated from Randall High School. He served as a radio officer in the Merchant Marines on the USAT David C. Shanks during WWII. Gerald married Margaret Kaad on May 17, 1936 in Glen Elder, KS. She preceded him in death on Nov. 17, 1998. Gerald began farming full time in 1951 and lived, worked and farmed in the Randall, Jamestown, Glasco & Concordia areas. Gerald was a member of the United Methodist Church in Jamestown, Masonic Lodge #11 in Jewell. Gerald served as a director for Federal Land Bank. Gerald received the Banker's Soil Conservation awards along with Farm Bureau Century Farm awards for both Cloud & Jewell counties. He loved to play cards with his family & friends. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon MacVean & husband John, Phoenix, AZ & Mary Anne Stoskopf & husband Dean, Hoisington, KS; son, Robert Hart & wife Linda, Ponca City, OK; sister in law, Loreita Swenson, Concordia, KS; grandchildren, Judith Hart, Greenville, TX, Cynthia Hart, Perry, KS Paula Hart, Lafayette, LA, Sarah Hart, Tulsa, OK, Christopher MacVean, Phoenix, AZ, Jennifer MacVean, Phoenix, AZ, Julia Debes, Valpariso, FL & Wayne Stoskopf, Manhattan, KS; great grandchildren, Aaron Hart, Greenville, TX, Malcolm MacVean, Phoenix, AZ, Tilly Johnson, Perry, KS & John MacVean, Phoenix, AZ & special friends, Tom & Linda Petersen & family, Jamestown, KS. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; son, Vaughn Hart; parents; brother, Lawrence Hart & sisters, Ocie Anderson, Charlette Hammerich, Alice Culberson, Ruth Stapley &Jamie Crockett. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Wed., June 17, 2009 at the United Methodist Church, Jamestown, KS with Pastors Norma Thompson & Sharon MacVean officiating. Burial will follow the services at St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery, NW of Jamestown, KS with Masonic Rites by St. John's Lodge #113 AF & AM. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family greeting friends from 7-8 PM, Tues., June 16, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. The family suggests memorials to the Jamestown United Methodist Church.
