Geraldine "Geri" Bunch, age 81, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Mt. Joseph Senior Village, Concordia, KS.  She was born on July 18, 1940 in Concordia, KS to James Elijah & Rosie Lillabelle (Jewell) Hale.

Geri graduated from Concordia High School.  She married Kenneth O. Bunch on Aug. 17, 1959 at the Courthouse in Concordia.  They relocated to the south for 36 years while Kenneth served in the military.  They were in Charleston, SC for 18 years and Northern Georgia for 18 years.  Geri worked for Kentucky Fried Chicken Corporation out of Atlanta, GA as a food service manager for 36 years until her retirement.  Kenneth preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 1992 and Geri returned to the Concordia area in the fall of 1996. She then worked in the kitchen at Marquis Place for 10 ½ years.  She was a member of the American Legion & VFW auxiliaries.

She is survived by a brother, Gilford Hale (Juanita), Concordia, KS; sister in law, Doris Hale, Concordia, KS and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her parents; brothers, Theodore & George Hale; nephews, Bobby & Duane Hale; great niece, Lucinda Hale; great nephew, Ryan White & great great nephew, Sawyer White.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 2 pm at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia with Earl Hale officiating.  Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia.  Visitation will be from 1-8 pm, Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at the funeral home.  The family suggests memorials to the O'Connor Animal Shelter or the 4J Cowboy Church in care of the funeral home.  For online condolences visit www.chaputbuoy.com.
