Obituary

Gevine Marie Hoesli, age 76, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, January 5, 2012 at her home with her family surrounding her.   She was born November 15, 1935 to William and Bernadette (L'Ecuyer) Demars in Aurora, Kansas.  On June 7, 1954, Gevine married LaRoy Hoesli at St. Peter Parish in Aurora.  LaRoy and Gevine raised seven children, 5 daughters and 2 sons.  Gevine and LaRoy made Clyde, Kansas their home in 1966 when they purchased and operated the local grocery store.  During all of this time, Gevine was a very active member of the Clyde community.   She served an Emergency Medical Technician from 1981 to 1995.  She was a devoted member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, teaching religion classes and a member of the choir.  Gevine was an active member of the Clyde Chamber of Commerce, organizing the Christmas craft fairs and Clyde Watermelon Festivals.  She volunteered for many organizations in the Clyde area and was particularly noted for her volunteer work at the Park Villa Nursing Home and Meadowlark Hospice.  Gevine will be remembered for her kindness and service to others who were in need.  She is survived by her seven children:   Janell (Dan) Sueltz, Centennial, CO; Cindy (Gary) Wurtz, Sioux Falls, SD; Robert (Colleen) Hoesli; Clyde, KS; Edye (Rick) Armstrong, Topeka, KS; Mary (Greg) Gilstrap, Anthem, AZ; Annette (Dan) Tucker, Bonner Springs, KS, Jerry Hoesli, Marquette, KS; 16 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.  Other survivors include 4 sisters and spouses:  Lillian Fruits, Marilouise Breault, Jeanette Nelson, Loretta Demars, and brother-in-law Max Hoesli as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Gevine was preceded in death by her husband, LaRoy and grandson, Shane Hoesli.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, Tues, Jan. 10, 2012 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde with Rev. Larry Letourneau officiating.  Visitation will be from 10 AM to 5 PM, Mon. at Chaput Mortuary and after 6 PM, Mon. at the church.  A Parish Rosary will be held at 4 PM, Mon. at Chaput Mortuary and a Vigil service at 7 PM, Mon. at the church.  Burial will follow the services at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Clyde.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Meadowlark Hospice or Park Villa Nursing Home.
