She was born on May 31, 1910 on a farm near
Gladys was an outstanding knitter, and she put her knitting talents to good use, teaching knitting and finally opening The Knit Shop in downtown Concordia.
Even after she closed her shop, she continued her passion for knitting by taking on special projects for many people.
Her knitted afghans were things of beauty.
She loved and was very active in the
Gladys is survived by her son, Kenneth Travis and wife Theresa of Midland, TX; sister, Evelyn McWain and husband Fred of Quincy, WA; grandchildren, Debi Musick & husband Casey of Humble, TX, Gary Travis & wife Bryanette of Corpus Christi, TX, Jim Travis & wife Mary Jo of Maple Valley, WA & Kristi Sbrena and husband Sal of Tomball, TX; 7 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Wallace, her parents and brothers, Floyd & Clifford.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, March 18, 2011 at
