Hans Jay Kalin, of Overland Park , passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Hospice House of Kansas City . He was ninety years old. Born on August 8, 1920; Jay was the middle child of Doc and Dottie (Benson) Kalin of Belleville, Kansas . After meeting in Belleville , Jay married Mabel Marie Buckley in Ft. Wayne , Indiana on August 21, 1948 where they lived until moving to Overland Park in 1953. Jay worked as an electrical engineer and enjoyed sailing boats, building projects, and telling stories. He served his country for six years in the United States Navy during WWII.

Jay is survived by a daughter, Linda Kalin of Richmond, California ; a son, Jay Kalin of Annapolis, Maryland ; 3 grandsons, Jay Kalin of Chicago, Illinois ; Eric Kalin and Michael Kalin, both of Riva, Maryland ; and a granddaughter, Rachel Kalin of Riva, Maryland. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Marie; his parents; an older brother, Victor, and younger sister Margaret.

A graveside inurnment will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 9, 2011 in the Pleasant View Cemetery , Ames .
