Harold D. Hughes, age 64, died Sat., May 11, 2013 at Via Christi-St. Francis, Wichita. Harold was born in Concordia, KS to Billie M. & Iona "Tootie" (Berggren) Hughes.
Harold graduated from Jamestown High School. He married Virginia L. Carter on Sept. 4, 1970. Harold operated Jamestown Implement Co. form 74-79 and then went worked for Werner Bros. & Kling Motors. Harold then worked for Pueblo Chemical for the next 25 years until illness forced him to retire.
Harold is survived by his wife, Virginia, Cheney; sons, Harold II & wife Jami, Kingman, Jim & wife Jaime, Cheney & Brett, Cheney; mother, Iona "Tootie" Johnson & husband Glenn, Beatrice, NE; brother, Billie & wife Jolene, East Moline, IL; sister, Jeanie Emerson & husband Don, Benton; grandchildren, Elijah, Jacob, Desirah, Hayley & Hope Hughes & Zachary, Peyton & Parker McClellan; step-brothers, Dave Johnson, Garden City, Jerry Johnson, Seattle, WA & Jeff Johnson, Kearney, NE & step sisters, Nancy Zobel, Omaha, NE & Judy Walz, Covington, LA. He was preceded in death by his father, Billie & sister, Donita Roche.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Wed., May 15 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Whitley officiating. Burial will follow the services at the Jamestown Cemetery, Jamestown. Visitation will be from 9 am to 9 pm with the family greeting from 7-8 pm Tues. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Donor's Choice in care of the funeral home.
