Helen Blochlinger was born on Oct. 17, 1917 in Jamestown, KS to William L. & Ella (Downey) Murray, Sr. She passed from this life on Sunday, July 5, 2009 at Sunset Nursing Home in Concordia, KS at the age of 91. Helen graduated from Jamestown High School. She then attended Marymount College for a year and then Kansas State for a year. Helen married Laurence A. Blochlinger on Feb. 17, 1942 in Jamestown, KS. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2006. Helen was a secretary/book keeper for a government agency prior to being the book keeper for Moose Lodge #1428 in Concordia, KS for 32 years until her retirement. She also was a homemaker. Helen was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, the Altar Society, Women of the Moose Lodge #1428, American Legion Post #76 & VFW Post #588 Ladies auxiliaries & a 4-H Leader all of Concordia. Helen is survived by her sons, Larry Blochlinger & wife Jan, Concordia, KS & Gary Blochlinger & wife Betty, Concordia, KS; grandchildren, Jeff Blochlinger, Concordia, KS, Brandon Blochlinger & wife Maria, Concordia, KS, Ricky McWhorter & wife Bobbie, Concordia, KS, Chandra Strait & husband Brian, Phoenix City, AL, Jennifer Blochlinger, Concordia, KS & Chelsea McWhorter, Concordia, KS; great grandchildren, Gage Strait, Phoenix City, AL, Jocelyn & Jaiden Buller, Concordia, KS, Drake Blochlinger, Concordia, KS, Paige & Trinity McWhorter, Concordia, KS & Madison Meyer, Concordia, KS. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence; parents & brother, William L. Murray, Jr.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia with Rev. Barry Brinkman officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM with an Altar Society Rosary at 5 PM & Vigil services at 6:30 PM, all on Wed., July 8, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Concordia Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
