Helen "Maxine" Monty was born on Sept. 22, 1919 in Cloud Co, KS to Cecil and Alma (Hauck) Woodworth. She passed from this life on Friday, June 17, 2011 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia, KS at the age of 91. Maxine graduated from Miltonvale High School and then attended Kansas State University. She married Abner "Mac" Monty on Feb. 14, 1942 in Aurora, KS. He preceded her in death on April 28, 1997. Maxine taught at Hopewell rural school and then stayed at home with her first child. She later returned to work at Cook's IGA, ACE Hardware, Montgomery Ward and then as the secretary for Schendel Pest Control until her retirement in 1984. Maxine was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, the Altar Society & VFW Post #588 Ladies Auxiliary. Maxine loved to play cards and was a member of various card clubs. She is survived by her son: Paul Monty & wife Gayle, Washington, KS; daughters: Loleda Monty, Concordia, KS & Lana Michaud & husband Duane, Concordia, KS; grandchildren: Nacolle Burke & husband Joe, Leawood, KS, Danielle Monty-Mara, Burkina Faso, Africa, Rodney Michaud & wife Janet, Concordia, KS, Amanda Mosher & husband J.J., Wichita, KS, Kelli Oesterich & husband Brad, Lee's Summit, MO & Amy Kern, Sarasota, FL & 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Abner "Mac" Monty; parents; sister, Gladys Wells & brothers, Paul & Curtis Woodworth. A memorial Mass will be held at 10 AM, Monday, June 27, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia with Rev. Barry Brinkman officiating. It was Maxine's wishes to be cremated and friends may sign the register book from 12-8 PM with an Altar Society Rosary at 5 PM and Vigil service at 7 PM, all Sunday, June 26, 2011 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Burial of the cremains will follow the memorial services at St. Concordia Cemetery, Concordia. The family suggests memorials to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church or the Cloud County Health Center Foundation in care of the funeral home.
