Helen C. Whitesell, age 69, passed Mon, Sept. 15, 2014 peacefully at her home in Concordia, KS surrounded by her loving family & friends. She was born on Aug. 22, 1945 in Topeka, KS to Mertin E. & Velma M. (Boles) Greene.

She was the 8th of 9 children and was raised in Topeka. She attended Topeka schools and graduated from Highland Park High School in 1963. In 1966, her 1st child, a daughter, Lela Ann was born. She was then again blessed with another daughter, Pamela Jean in 1969. On Jan 8, 1996, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Loran Whitesell. They moved to Concordia in 2000 to live near their daughters. She joined the Faith Baptist Church & loved serving God. She enjoyed the fellowship, friendship & love of her church family.

She is survived by her husband, Loran, Concordia; daughters, Lela (Rusty) Haswell, Clifton & Pamela (Norman) Combs, Concordia; step sons, Jeff (partner Mario) Whitesell, California & Ryan (girlfriend Kemma) Whitesell, Lawrence; step daughter, Staci (Jamie) Brauer, Topeka; brothers, Ed (Diane) Greene, Tecumseh & Eldon & Walter Greene, both of Lawrence; grandchildren, Makita, Jessica, Maxx, Tim, Adam, Naomi & Jillian & great grandchildren, Austin, Marissa, Kadence, Mariah & Neveah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; 2 sisters & 3 brothers.

The family selected cremation and Memorial graveside services will be held at 2 pm, Fri., Sept. 19, 2014 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Pastor Brian Hughes officiating. Friends may sign the register book from 8 am to 5 pm, Thurs. at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Helen Whitesell Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
