Howard T. "Salty" Hammond, age 85, entered into rest on May 31, 2015 at the Park Villa Nursing Home in Clyde, Kansas. He was born January 21, 1930 to Carl and Lena (Brenner) Hammond.
He married Lois M. Houdashelt on June 10, 1948 in Newton, Kansas. He graduated from Agenda High School 1948. "Salty" worked for American Salt, Lyons, Kansas for 40 plus years as a Territory Manager. He was a member of the Lutheran Church, Clay Center, KS.; Howard was also a member of the Masonic Lodge for 55 years in Clay Center; Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge both of Concordia; He served as Mayor of Agenda for 12 years. He enjoyed farming, cattle and going to auctions.
He is survived by Lois of the Home in Agenda, KS.; a son Brian Hammond (Debbie), Concordia, KS.; 3 grandsons, 7 great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2015 with family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Chaput Mortuary, Clyde
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the United Methodist Church, Agenda, Kansas with Rev. Sandra Jellison-Knock officiating. Burial will follow in the Manning Cemetery, Agenda.
