Howard K. Rhodes was born on Jan. 24, 1915 in Scottsville, KS to Worth W. & Lelia M. (Davis) Rhodes. He passed from this life on Sun., Jan. 4, 2009 at his residence in Jamestown, KS at the age of 93. Howard married Zelda M. Pfister on Oct. 6, 1940 in Jamestown, KS. She preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 2003. Howard served in the US Army as a tank mechanic during WWII in the Phillippines, Japan, Germany & England. He was a Jamestown area farmer until his retirement in 1979. He attended the Methodist Church and was a former member of the Moose Lodge #1428 and the Lion's Club. He is survived by a son, John H. Rhodes & wife Linda, Union, MO; a daughter: Sandra Manka, Nashville, TN; grandchildren: Joshua Rhodes & wife Shandra, Oklahoma City, OK, Aaron Manka & wife Margaret Breida, Arlington, VA & Krista Manka & husband Bo, Signal Mountain, TN; great grandchildren, Kade & Anna Oglesby, Signal Mountain, TN; Alden & Miranda Manka, Arlington, VA & Kylii & Elijah Rhodes, Oklahoma City, OK. He was preceded in death by his wife, Zelda; brothers, Ronald & Kenneth Rhodes; sisters, Geneva Rhodes and an infant sister. Private family services have been held. There will be no viewing or visitation. Burial will be held at a later date at the Jamestown Cemetery, Jamestown, KS.
