Ilene S. McGinnis was born on July 23, 1910 SW of Concordia, KS to Charles F. and Dora M. Roswell Bray. She passed from this life on Monday, September 8, 2008 at Mt. Joseph Senior Community, Concordia, KS at the age of 98. She attended Dist. 44 school. She married Lloyd B. McGinnis on May 15, 1938 at Chetopa, KS. He preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 1969. She was a homemaker and the strong woman behind the man of her household. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Christian Women's Fellowship. A charter member of the Women of the Moose and a member of the Rebekah Lodge. She and her husband owned and operated the Massey-Harris Dealership before they began custom harvesting from Oklahoma to Canada. She is survived by her daughter: Phyllis Cyphers and husband Richard, Concordia, KS; sisters: Eloise Margaret Derusseau, Kansas City, KS and Clarice Zimmerman, Seattle, WA; 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, her parents; an infant daughter; 3 brothers & 2 sisters. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the First Christian Church, Concordia with Rev. John States officiating. Burial of the cremains will follow the memorial services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. Friends may sign the register book from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family greeting friends from 6-7 PM, Friday, September 12, 2008 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. The body was cremated. The family suggests memorials to the First Christian Church or Meadowlark Hospice.
