Irene Peak was born on July 7, 1938 in Beloit, KS to Paul & Sarah Helen (Geisler) Zentz. She passed from this life on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia at the age of 71. Irene attended schools in Jewell county where she was a cheerleader for high school basketball games. She married James Bennett Peak on Aug. 3, 1963. He preceded her in death in January 2005. She operated a cleaning business in Arizona and later was the owner & operator of the Kountry Kitchen from 1980-94. She later worked for her daughter and son in law at Kristy's Restaurant until she retired in 2009. Irene was a member of Moose Lodge #1428 from 1994-2000, VFW & American Legion Auxiliaries all of Concordia. She is survived by her daughters, Vickie Wright, OK, Jackie Geisler, Hastings, NE, Kristy Studt & husband Tony, Concordia, KS, Lisa Davis, Concordia, KS & Shasta LeDuc, Concordia, KS; son: John Ellis & wife Carol, Salina, KS; sister: Audrey Houser & husband Ray, Concordia, KS; brother: Larry Zentz, Concordia, KS; 20 grandchildren & several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; parents; 2 brothers Everett & Gary & granddaughter, Jacqueline Nolsheim. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Mon., Nov. 16, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Burns officiating. Visitation will be held from 1-9 PM with the family greeting friends from 7-8 PM, Sun., Nov. 15, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. The family suggests memorials to the American Lung Assoc. in care of the funeral home.
