Irene M. Peterson was born on Feb. 9, 1909 in Aurora, KS to Frank & Celia (Martel) LeClair. She passed from this life on Tues., June 2, 2009 at Clay County Hospital, Clay Center, KS at the age of 100. Irene married Walford G. Peterson on July 31, 1935 at St. Joseph, KS. He preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 1987. Irene was a lifelong area resident & homemaker. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde. She is survived by a daughter, Ilene Ross & husband Richard, Lincoln, NE; 3 grandchildren & 7great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walford; parents; 2 grandchildren; 2 sisters & 5 brothers. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 AM, Friday, June 5, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde with Rev. Larry Letourneau officiating. Visitation will be held from 1-8 PM with a Rosary at 7 PM, Thurs., June 4, 2009 at Chaput Mortuary, Clyde. Burial will follow the services at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Clyde. The family suggests memorials to the Mt. Calvary Cemetery Fund or St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in care of Chaput Mortuary.
