Jack W. Mitchell was born on Jan. 2, 1948 in Concordia, KS to Myron E. & Sarah A. (Higgins) Mitchell.  He died on Wed., Jan. 25, 2012 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia, KS at the age of 64.  Jack graduated from Concordia High School in 1966 and then Cloud County Community College.  He served in the US Army for 3 years and when he returned graduated from Washburn University with a degree in Philosophy and then received his teaching certificate from Emporia State.  Jack taught woods & photography at Concordia High School until his retirement in 2010.  Jack coached freshman basketball for several years and tennis until his retirement.  He married Kathy Trost on July 29, 1972 at Huscher UMC.  He was a member of the Huscher UMC and Kansas Tennis Association.  He is survived by his wife, Kathy, Concordia; sons, Steven Mitchell, Concordia, KS and Andrew Mitchell & wife Melissa, Powhattan, KS; daughter, Wendy Mitchell & fiancé Cody Moulton, Clay Center, KS; father, Myron Mitchell, Ellsinore, MO; brother, Charles Mitchell, Oklahoma City, OK; sisters, Connie Mitchell, Salina, KS, Marymar Stolzenburg & husband Jim, Clifton, KS, & Wanda Owen, Ellsinore, MO.  He was preceded in death by his mother. The family selected cremation with Memorial services at 11 AM, Tues, Jan. 31 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Concordia with Rev. L. Dean Thompson officiating.  Friends may sign the register book from 9 AM to 9 PM, Mon.. at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with family greeting friends from 7-8 PM. The family suggests memorials to CHS Tennis Club, Teens For Christ or Huscher United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
