Ganson
January 9, 1923 – March 9, 2010
James "Jim" D. Ganson was born on Jan. 9, 1923 in Canton, KS to Ralph & Della (Brown) Ganson. He passed from this life on Tues., March 9, 2010 at Mt. Joseph Senior Community, Concordia at the age of 87. Jim graduated from Canton High School. He attended McPherson College. He married Crystelle Anderson on Feb. 7, 1943 in Tescott, KS and they enjoyed 67 years together. Jim served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He trained as a bombardier, but flew as a navigator over Europe. Jim worked for the Production Credit Association in both Chanute and Concordia. He retired in 1982 from North Central Kansas Production Credit Association, now known as Farm Credit. Jim was an avid golfer, member of the First United Methodist Church, Concordia, a 50 year member of the Lion's Club, member of Moose Lodge #1427, VFW #588, and American Legion #76. He served on the Country Club Board and was a past President of the Concordia Chamber of Commerce. Jim was a arduous volunteer, most recently involved in the Cloud County Historical Society's Whole Wall Mural in downtown Concordia. Jim is survived by his wife, Crystelle Ganson, Concordia; daughter, Kathleen Rude & husband Richard, Brandon, FL; grandchildren, Dr. Amy Michalski, San Diego, CA & Paul Taylor & wife Deborah, Port St. Lucie, FL; great grandchildren, Ryan Michalski, San Diego, CA & Crystelle & Larenne Taylor, Port St. Lucie, FL; many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, the Krier Family, his baby blue truck and his coffee buddies. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Sat., March 13, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church, Concordia with Rev. Sandra K. Moore officiating. Burial will follow the services at the Franklin Cemetery, Tescott, KS. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family greeting friends from 6-7 PM, Fri., March 12, 2010 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to the Cloud County Historical Society, First United Methodist Church or the Donor's Choice in care of the funeral home.
