James "Jim" Lee Zimmerman, age 70, of Concordia, Kansas, left this earthly life on Friday, June 9, 2023, surrounded by his family at home.

Jim was born on November 26, 1952 in Los Angeles, California his parents were Charles and Merry (Culp) Zimmerman.

Jim attended Olympia High School, in Olympia, Washington.  He went on to serve in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1970-1976 as a mechanic on the USS Wichita (AOR1) support ship.  While in the Navy Jim received his GED.  He was honorably discharged.

He married Sally Burns on January 1, 2001 in Westminster, Colorado.  She survives of the home in Concordia.

Jim was a Consultant Senior Staff IT Systems Engineer for the Qwest Corporation in Denver, Colorado.

He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #7697 in Glasco, Kansas.

Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Sally Zimmerman, Concordia, KS; daughter, Denise Zimmerman Hagel (Joseph), Arnold, MO; Merry Lorraine Ruth, Sanneh, IL; step-children, Jeffrey John Younger (Pamela), Pueblo, CO, Eric Joseph Younger (Barbara), Deer Trail, CO; Elisha Giger (Thomas), Strasburg, CO; Valerie L. Fairbanks (Patrick), Evergreen, CO; 14 grandchildren; one brother, and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Logan James Zimmerman, two sisters and one brother.

There will be no visitation.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Fellowship Christian Church in Concordia, Kansas on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., with a reception immediately following until 2:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

A private family burial of cremains will take place in Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.
