James LeRoy "Jim" Mendenhall passed away on May 1, 2011 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born November 13, 1944 in Concordia , KS to Everett and Francis Mendenhall. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and at times he was a practical jokester. He married the love of his life Gail Ann Neff on September 22, 1965. They were married for 45 years before his passing. Jim leaves behind his wife of 45 years and two cherished children, Carmela Ann Mendenhall-Thomas and husband Steven of Alex, OK, Charles Duane Mendenhall and fiancé Debra Dyke of Concordia, KS; two loving grandchildren, Gwendolyn Rain Mendenhall of Olathe, KS, and Wyatt James Mendenhall of Concordia, KS. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and one brother Everett Porter Mendenhall and his wife Betty Jean Mendenhall, both of Concordia , KS . Survivors include his brothers Delbert and wife Lila of Formoso, KS, Raymond and wife Bersita Mendenhall of Concordia , KS , and brother Calvin and wife Paula, also of Concordia , KS . Along with many nieces and nephews. Jim greatly appreciated the love and care of his family and friends. He was a generous person who helped many people in whatever way he could. Jim was a loving husband, son, brother, and father. The family will hold a memorial service at the Airport park in Concordia , KS on May 14 ^th , 2011 at 1:30 PM with Pastor Norma Thompson officiating. Donations may be left at Central National Bank in Concordia to help out with Medical Expenses.
