He died on Thurs., Oct. 6, 2011 at Midland Care Connection in
Topeka

KS
at the age of 79.
Jim graduated from
Jamestown
High School
and enlisted in the US Navy where he served as a yeomen on the USS Yorktown, Antietam & Shangri-La and 2 tours during the Korean Conflict.
Jim was a lifelong area resident and farmer.
He was a life member of the American Legion Post #76, where he served at the Commander and VFW Post #588.
He also was a member of the Moose Lodge #1426 and the ELKS of Concordia.
Jim served on the Conservation Dist. Board of Directors.
Jim was an avid card player, especially playing bridge.
He was an avid outdoorsmen that liked to hunt & fish.
He is survived by his son, Joe Odette & wife Jennifer, Concordia, KS; daughter, Jane Miller & husband Jeff, Topeka, KS; brother, Richard Odette & wife Janie, Bullard, TX &
grandchildren, Cody Odette & friend Hattie Clark, Concordia, Cyle Odette & wife Hannah, Manhattan, KS, Colton Odette, Concordia & Thayne & Danyon Miller, Topeka, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Tues, Oct. 11, 2011 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Brinkman and Pastor Bob Burns officiating.
Burial with military honors by American Legion Post #76 and VFW Post #588 will follow the services at St. Mary's

Visitation will be from 9 AM to 9 PM with family greeting friends from 6-8 PM, Mon, Oct. 10, 2011 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorials to the American Legion Post #76 or the Rebecca A. Morrison House in care of the funeral home.
