Obituary

James C. Walker, DVM, age 77, died on Wed., Nov. 26, 2014 at his home in Concordia, KS surrounded by his immediate family. He was born on July 9, 1937 in Concordia, KS to James V. & Orpha E. (Kramer) Walker

He graduated from Concordia High School in 1955 and Kansas State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1962. He had veterinary practices in Glasco, KS; Broadview, IL & Concordia, KS. He also took over his family farm in 1991 and was an active farmer & rancher while operating his veterinary practice. He married Carolyn Rundell on Nov. 3, 1962 and later Fran (Leathers) James on Dec. 17, 1983 in Wheaton, IL. She preceded him on May 1, 2001. He married Patricia (Arpin) Frybarger on Sept. 2, 2006. Dr. Walker was a dedicated, hardworking man who was always assisting anyone who needed help all his life. He was a positive humanitarian that loved his livestock and all animals. Dr. Walker was an active member of The Wesleyan Church, Concordia and he loved to memorize scripture and encourage those around him with his faith.

He is survived by his wife, Pat, Concordia, KS; daughters, Jamie Harrison (John), IN; Martha Peterson (Scott), CO & Nicole Powell (Steve), CO; sister, Golda Pope (Russ), KS; grandchildren; Jonathan, Jeremy, Michael (Becca), Jacob, Jaclynne, Jordan, Ethan, Dillon, Aubrie & Malachi; step children; Cindy Chupp (Doug), IN, Rev. Greg James (Donna), TX, Lisa Kuhn (Terry) & Mary Gutierrez, both of KS & step grandchildren, Bethany, Elise, Ariel, Calle, John, Matias & Garrett.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Melanie Walker; wife, Fran Walker & his parents.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Thurs, Dec. 4, 2014 at The Wesleyan Church, Concordia with Rev. David Redmond & Pastor Bob Burns officiating. Burial will follow the services at Rose Hill Cemetery, Wayne, KS. Visitation will be from 9 am to 9 pm with family greeting friends from 5-8 pm, Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.
