April 30, 1925 – February 5, 2021
Norma Jean Swiercinsky, daughter of Ernest C. and Mary S. (Rogge) Peters, was born April 30, 1925 in Linn, Ks, and passed on February 5, 2021 at the age of 95.
Jean completed high school through her junior year in Linn, and after the family relocated to Odell, NE, graduated from high school in 1943. After a 3-month course at Kansas University she worked for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, then Greyhound Transportation in San Francisco. In 1946 she returned to Washington, KS and was employed at Moore's Firestone Store.
On January 11, 1948 Jean and A. G. 'Jake' Swiercinsky were married. They lived in Washington, KS until moving to Concordia in March 1949, having earlier purchased the Wilcox insurance Agency.
Jean was a homemaker and in 1949 she joined, and was continually active in the Concordia Lutheran Church, holding several different offices through the years. She also belonged to the Atheneum Club and several bridge clubs. In 1966 she began working in the County Clerk's office and later became County Deputy Appraiser, retiring in 1986.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jake, sister Florence Vathauer, brothers Ralph and Wilbur Peters, grandson Troy Jacob Swiercinsky, step-grandson Ryan Swiercinsky and step-granddaughter Sonya (Toney) Smith.
She is survived by her daughter Brenda Swiercinsky, San Rafael, CA, sons David (Vickie) Swiercinsky, Wellington, FL, and Mark (Carrie) Swiercinsky, Weidman, MI. 3 Grandchildren Chad, Todd and Justyne Swiercinsky, step-granddaughter Jaimee Cotter and step-grandson Jared Toney (Anna Kuzmenko), step-great grandsons David Castro (Chelsea Havan) and Martin Mannion, step-great granddaughters Rylee Cotter, Keira Mourad, Eleanor and Sofia Toney; and step-great great grandson Beau Castro and several nieces and nephews.
It was Jean's wishes to be cremated and a memorial service will be at 11:30 am, Sat. May 15, 2021 at the Concordia Lutheran Church with Jim Winter, PMA officiating. Family burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. Friends may sign the register book from 9 am to 5 pm, Friday, May 14, 2021 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.
