Jerry L. Jones, age 66, died Wed., Feb. 19, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society, Minneapolis, KS. He was born on Sept. 30, 1947 in Superior, NE to Armel & Helen (Schaffer) Jones.

Jerry grew up in the Wichita, KS area. He served our country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He married Rita Russell on April 19, 1969 in Derby, KS. Jerry was an independent finance contractor, assisting General Motors in a host of various locations. He was a member of American Legion Post #76 & the Catholic Church. Jerry has a lifetime of friends & relatives in places all over the country.

He is survived by his wife, Rita, Concordia; brothers, Vern Jones & wife Diane, Rock Springs, WY & Gary Jones & wife Vickie, Derby; sisters, Mary Milner, Shelley, ID, Ruth Coggins & hus. Norm, Big Timber, MT, Janet Amerson & hus. Roy, Sandersville, GA & Judy Jones, Salina; sister in law, Vera Jones, Shelley, ID; 9 nieces, 9 nephews & numerous great nieces & nephews & great great nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents & brothers, James & Daniel Jones.

The family selected cremation and Memorial services will be at 11:00 am, Tues., Feb. 25, 2014 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Lager officiating & Military Honors by American Legion Post #76 & VFW Post #588. Friends may sign the register book from 9 am to 9 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm and the family greeting friends after the Rosary on Mon., Feb. 24, 2014, all at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in the Rice Cemetery, Rice, KS. The family suggests memorials to the Disabled American Veterans or American Legion Post #76 in care of the funeral home.
