Obituary

Jim "J.C." Dowler, Jr. was born on Aug. 10, 1946 in Shelbyville, Illinois to James C. & Katie (Francis) Dowler, Sr.. He passed from this life on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia at the age of 62.  J .C. graduated high school in Mt. Vernon, IL. He served in the U.S. Navy for 6 years. He married Marjorie York in October, 1994. J.C. and Margie met in 1968 when he was a young man in the Navy and then, when their life circumstances changed, they rekindled their love for each other and both felt blessed to have their time with each other for the past 15 years. During his youth, J.C. delighted in being able to take music lessons and played the violin. He enjoyed music and was very knowledgeable about music. James was an iron worker during his younger years in Oregon, the Kansas City area, and several different places. In later years, J.C. worked in the agriculture and sheet metal fields, both professions that he enjoyed. He loved his horses. J.C. and Margie moved to Republic County September of 2008. He enjoyed finding all the wonderful little restaurants in the area as well as other establishments, loved the movie theater in Belleville, and he was immensely interested in the history of the area and he snared any local resident that he could into sharing their knowledge about the area. J.C. enjoyed going to The Gym in Belleville for his workouts and visiting with the folks there.  He is survived by his wife: Marjorie Dowler, Scandia, KS; brother: V. Pat Dowler, Conifer, CO; sister: Ollie Karen Dowler, Bolingbrook, IL; 3 step children; 6 step grandchildren & several cousins, sisters & brothers in law & host of additional family & friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents. T he family will have private services and have chosen cremation.  The family suggests memorials to Sunset Nursing Home in care of the funeral home.
