Jim Rittel was born on July 29, 1924 in Beloit , KS to Frank J. & Pearl M. (Nolan) Rittel. He died on Thurs, March 29, 2012 at Cloud County Health Center , Concordia , KS at the age of 87. Jim graduated from Concordia High School in 1942 and married Ruth Kearns on Feb. 28, 1945 in Beloit , KS . She preceded him on Dec. 20, 2004. Jim was a lifelong Cloud Co. area farmer, he also worked at both sale barns in Concordia and later Larsen's Gas Station after retirement. Jim was a member of the Huscher United Methodist Church , served as a volunteer rural firefighter for Cloud Co. Fire Dist. #4, was on the Center Twp. Cemetery board and served as a 4-H Leader for many years. He is survived by his daughter, Diana Gering & hus. Bob, Concordia; brother in law, Charles Kearns, Phillipsburg, KS; grandchildren, Brent Gering & wife Cole, Enterprise, KS, Stacy Letourneau & hus. Pat, Concordia , KS , Lori Dodson & hus. Kevyn, Seville , MD & Jeni Johnson & hus. Troy, Concordia, KS and great grandchildren, Cody & Jori Letourneau, Concordia, KS, Gianna & Kayleb Dodson, Seville, MD, Skye & Dayton Johnson, Concordia, KS & Rylee Gering & Summer Bice, Enterprise, KS. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; son, Larry Rittel, parents and sister, Annabelle Balthazor. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Sat, March 31, 2012 at the Huscher United Methodist Church , Huscher , KS with Rev. L. Dean Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery , Concordia. Visitation will be from 11 AM to 9 PM with family greeting friends from 7-8 PM, Fri. at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to the Cloud County Health Dept. or Cloud Co. Rural Fire Dist. # 4.
