John "Gerald" Cash was born on a farm northeast of Jewell, KS to John & Mayme (Rockey) Cash. He passed from this life on Sat., Sept. 25, 2010 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia at the age of 98. Gerald attended grade school at Pleasant Valley Dist. 31 and graduated from Randall Rural High School in 1929. Gerald started teaching school in 1931 at a local country school. He taught in rural schools five years & five terms in Montrose Elementary School and in Randall for 31 years until his retirement in 1973. Gerald also farmed in the area with his brothers most of his life. Gerald married Marcelle Fulton on Nov. 24, 1934 in Great Bend, KS. Gerald attended the Randall Community Church. He was a charter member of the Randall Lions Club for 50 years and a member of the Jewell County Teachers Assoc. Gerald also served one term as the Randall mayor. Gerald was well known for his handmade cards and poetry. He is survived by his son: Gary Cash & wife Margene, Clyde, KS; grandchildren: Dottie Vohs & husband Eldon, Concordia, KS, John Cash & wife Shelli, Concordia, KS, Jim Cash & wife Rhona, Shawnee Mission, KS, Sheila Watford & husband Gene, Youngstown, FL, Stephanie Lawson & husband Bobby, Agenda, KS, Shawna Hubert & husband Lee, Clyde, KS, Debbie Bargabus & husband Rustin, GA, Dawn Thompson & husband Patrick, Junction City, KS & April Castillo, Manhattan, KS & 16 great grandchildren & 8 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcelle; parents; brothers, Rodney & Alfred. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 1, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the Randall Community Church, Randall, KS with Rev. Dan Daniels & Rev. Fred Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM, Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. Burial will follow the services at the Jewell Cemetery, Jewell, KS. The family suggests memorials to the Randall Community Church & Randall Senior Citizen's Center in care of the funeral home.
