John E. Fazel was born on March 26, 1923 in Concordia, Kansas to John & Virginia (Thyfault) Fazel. He passed from this life on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009 at Mount Joseph Senior Community, Concordia at the age of 85. John married Arlene L. Trembly on July 21, 1947 in Concordia, KS. She preceded him on Nov. 7, 2006. He worked for Centel Electric for 35 years, retiring in April 1988. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, VFW Post #588, American Legion Post #76 and Electrical Worker Union #304. John served in the US Navy during WWII and also was recalled & served during the Korean conflict. John was an avid community volunteer, assisting with a host of church & community projects & activities. He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Hunt , Haysville, KS, Linda Fazel, Charlotte, NC & Elaine Sachdeva & husband Ravi, Manhattan, KS; sons, David Fazel, Kansas City, MO, Tom Fazel & wife Cheryl, Wichita, KS & Mike Fazel & wife Cindy, Concordia, KS; a sister, Marilyn Wallace, Concordia, KS; 8 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene; parents; sister, Dorothy Fleury & an infant sister, Marian Fazel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM with a vigil service at 6:30 PM, Wed., Feb. 4, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. Burial will follow the services at St. Concordia Cemetery with military honors conducted by American Legion Post #76 & VFW Post #588. The family suggests memorials to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Music or Maintenance Fund.
