Obituary
John M. Murray, Jr., age 85, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia. He was born on July 3, 1931 in Rural Mitchell Co., KS to John M. & Helen E. (Nible) Murray, Sr..
John graduated from Beloit High School and then from K-State with a B.S. in Soils. He farmed in the Simpson/Barnard area before operating the Western Auto store. He was a salesman for Big A Auto Parts & later Carquest. After retirement he drove the food truck for USD 333. He married Harriett (Clark) Tatro, who preceded him in death. He later married Doris (Larsen) Graham on March 12, 1977 in Concordia.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, former member of the Elks & Moose (#1428) Lodge, St. Johns AF & AM Masonic Lodge #113 & O.E.S. all of Concordia.
He is survived by his wife, Doris, Concordia; step daughters, Ginger Norris (Tom), Ft. Scott, Peggy Lesovsky (Tom), Cuba & Kathy Lehmann (Daryl), Gaylord; step sons, Michael Graham (Rex Gerstner), Dallas, TX, Francis Tatro (Sherry), Glasco, George Tatro (Royanne), Glasco & Kenneth Tatro (Barbara), Beloit; sisters, Betty Bergmann, Beloit, Joan Hilvers, Huber Heights, OH & Pauline Brummer (Jerry), Beloit; 16 step-grandchildren & 35 step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Harriett; brother, Frank "Larry" Murray; sisters, Louise Saine & Vivian Krone & a step-son, David Graham.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 23, 2016 at First United Methodist Church, Concordia with Rev. Melanie Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm on Friday, July 22, 2016 with family greeting friends from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm all at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.
