Joy Chavey, age 82, lifelong Clyde resident, entered into rest on Friday, July 19, 2019 at the Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, Kansas.  She was born on April 2, 1937 in Boise, Idaho to Ivel C. and Margaret A. (McQuillen) Griswold.

Joy attended Clyde High School.

She married Louis Chavey on May 19, 1953 in Clyde, Kansas and to this marriage five children were born, Coleen, Jim, John, Rick and Lana.  Louis preceded Joy in death on April 24, 2009.

She was a homemaker and worked in Dietary Department at Park Villa Nursing Home in Clyde for 8 years.  Joy also worked at the V.F.W. Post #7515 for many years.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, V.F.W.  Post #7515 Women's Aux. both of Clyde.

Joy enjoyed spending time with family and friends and most of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her five children, two daughters, Coleen Jackson, Ft. Collins, CO.;  Lana Cozad (Bob), Ault, CO.; 3 sons, Jim Chavey (Jackie), Drummond, OK.; John Chavey (Cindy), Clyde, KS.; Rick Chavey, Clyde, KS.; 2 brother-in-laws, Gerald Chavey, Concordia, KS.; Vernon Chavey, Clyde, KS.; 2 sisters, Nancy Weber (Dell), Gering, NE.; Christine Veesart (Larry), Hobbs, NM.; brother, Alan Gray (Beth), Ceresco, NE.; 16 grandchildren & 16 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Louis, her parents, Ivel and Margaret, step-father, Howard L. Gray, a sister, Judy Mansfield and a sister-in-law, Ima Jean Chavey.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, July 22, 2019 at Chaput Mortuary, Clyde.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde with Fr. David Metz officiating.   Burial will follow in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Clyde.  The family suggests memorials to the V.F.W.
