Julie E. (Mertel) Jones, 89 years of age, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the Cloud County Health Center in Concordia. She was born in McLean , TX on September 15, 1921 to John Paul and Julia Elizabeth (Hanslicek) Mertel. She married Robert H. Jones on March 2, 1947 in Roswell , NM . Julie lived a variety of places throughout the world during the years that Robert served in the US Air Force.

Julie is survived by 2 daughters, Roberta Lowrey and husband Richard of Concordia, Pamela Jaynes and husband Charles of Ana, TX; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; a sister, Bessie Boston of College Station, TX; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert on March 28, 2001; an infant daughter Julie; 2 brothers, Paul and Johnnie; and a sister, Margarite Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM, Wednesday, July 27, 2011 in the First United Methodist Church , Concordia with Rev. Tessa Zehring officiating. Interment will be in the Argonia Cemetery , Argonia , Kansas . Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM Tuesday, July 26, 2011 with family greeting friends from 6 – 7 PM in the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia. Memorials may be left to the church or the Cloud County Health Center in care of the funeral home.
