Obituary

Kalvini Bell Gruver was born on March 30, 1906 at Miltonvale, Kansas in Cloud County.  She was the oldest daughter of John E. McKelvey and Grace (Woodward) McKelvey.  She died at the age of 101 on February 13, 2008, as Sunset Home in Concordia, Kansas.  She graduated from Business school in Topeka, KS and worked for the Maytag Company.  On August 30, 1930 she married Hubert Gruver in Lincoln, NE.  They worked in Lincoln, NE.  In 1936 they made their home in Rawlins, Wyoming.  During the war she and Hubert worked at Boeing aircraft in Wichita and then returned to Rawlins, WY where she and Hubert worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 17 years.  She retired after 20 years at the railroad and served for many years volunteering and assisting senior citizens and the Presbyterian Church.  She enjoyed fishing and it was her greatest hobby.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert; her parents; two sisters and two brothers.  She is survived by her sisters, Rosemary Doxon, Jewell, KS and Ruth Phillips, Beloit, KS; and nieces and nephews.  She was cremated and will be buried at the Miltonvale Cemetery, Miltonvale, KS in private family service.  The family suggests memorial to the donor's choice.
