Obituary

Larry Eugene Arpin was born on Oct. 20, 1939 in St. Joseph, KS to Edgar & Denage (Hebert) Arpin. He passed from this life after a short battle with cancer at the Mount Joseph Senior Community, Concordia at the age of 69. Larry graduated from Clyde High School and then served in the US Navy. Later in life he received a Master's Degree in Psychology from the San Francisco School of Professional Psychology. Larry worked for the US Air Force as a civilian Quality Control Analyst. After his retirement, Larry returned to Concordia to be close to family. While living in California, Larry was an avid Oakland A's & Raider's fan. He enjoyed trout fishing in the Sierra Nevada's & was a Nascar fan. When he returned to Kansas, he enjoyed restoring a fishing boat given to him by his brother in law, Marty; fishing local ponds & attending Clifton-Clyde football games. Larry was instrumental in the formation of the Coach Ed Buller Memorial Scholarship established at Kansas State University. Larry was also involved in updating a list of Clyde graduates for the past 40 years. He is survived by his sons: Kevan Arpin & wife Vicki, Blue Rapids, KS & Gary Arpin & wife Francine, Blue Rapids, KS; long time friend & former wife: Sue Arpin, Sonora, CA; sisters: Carol Miller & husband Martin, Concordia, KS, Marjorie Clark, Topeka, KS & Betty Rubiales & husband Bob, San Jose, CA; brothers: Don Arpin, San Jose, CA & Richard Arpin, Wickcliffe, OH; sister in law: Mary Jane Arpin, Overland Park, KS; grandchild: Justin Arpin, Blue Rapids, KS; step grandchildren: Matthew Roberson, Kenny Gritten & Nicole & Karry Rogers & numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents & brother, Jim Arpin. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Tues., Sept. 15, 2009 at Chaput Mortuary, Clyde, KS with visitation from 8 AM until the service time Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Clyde. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Coach Ed Buller Memorial Scholarship c/o the Kansas State University Foundation.
