Obituary

Larry E. Starr, 82, of Concordia, Kansas, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2025.  He was born in Clyde, Kansas on March 31, 1943 to Ulysses and Nellie (Kennedy) Starr.

Larry attended Clyde and Concordia Schools and graduated from Notre Dame High School. He worked for the Kansas Department of Agriculture for 41 years traveling across the state as a dairy farm and dairy plant inspector.  He took great pride in his work and always tried to be fair while following the regulations.  He also worked for many years part-time at Boyd Oil / 81 Conoco and also managed the Elks Club for several years.

He married Sandra Metro and had two children, Shawn and Angela.

Later he married Annette Forshee on September 7, 1983. This union brought two more children, Kristen and Brandon.

Larry was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.  He was a former member and past president of the Kansas Association of Sanitarians, former member and past president of the Kansas Dairy Technology Society, former member of the Kansas Fieldmen's Association, former member and officer of the Elks Lodge, and a former member of the Heartland  Auto Club.

He was a big fan of KU basketball and loved watching them along with the KC Royals baseball.  He loved horses and enjoyed raising colts. He was very excited when he finally got his leopard appaloosa colt, Popcorn, who many enjoyed watching as they drove by the pasture on Noble Road.  After retiring, he could be seen driving around Concordia checking out what was new in town and then had a path to go check on all four kids' houses to make sure everything was as it should be.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Helen Norris and Wilma Monty, brothers Kenneth Kennedy and William "Bud" Starr, son-in-law, Lucas Schmidt.

He is survived by his wife, Annette Starr of Concordia, KS; children, Shawn Starr (Judy) of Concordia, KS, Angela Bloomer of Concordia, KS, Kristen Starr of Concordia, KS, and Brandon Starr, of Concordia, KS; sister, Carolyn "Jane" George (Howard) of Springdale, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Mildred Starr of McPherson, Kansas; grandchildren, Heather MacLean (Jeff), Christopher Moe (Ashley), Garrett Moe (Hilary), Jenna Krehbiel (Brandon), Bradley Starr, Madison Starr, Sadie Starr, Zaeley Garst, Zyker Starr, Zobrist Schmidt, Zeppelin Schmidt, and Sterling Starr; 13 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
