Laura M. Nelson was born on March 17, 1917 in Aurora, KS to Samuel & Myrtle (Allison) Trost. She passed from this life on Monday, March 21, 2011 at Life Care Center of Wichita, Wichita, KS at the age of 94. Laura grew up in Cloud County. She married Duane E. Nelson on Feb. 20, 1936. He preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 1985. She and Duane owned and operated the Orange Inn in Downtown Wichita for several years. She is survived by her daughter: Loretta Powell & husband Don, Dallas, TX; son: Gary Nelson & wife Christine, Roseville, CA; sister: Lula LeClef, Canada; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren & 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; parents; 3 brothers & 4 sisters. A burial graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wed., March 23, 2011 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, KS with Pastor L. Dean Thompson officiating. There will be no visitation and the casket will remain closed. The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Assoc.
