Obituary

Leon F. Rightmeier, 91 years of age, of Concordia, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Mount Joseph Senior Village in Concordia. He was born on October 18, 1920 in Jewell County to Lewis and Leta (Clark) Rightmeier. Leon was a graduate of Montrose Rural High School . He served his country during WWII as a Second Class Gunner's Mate in the United States Coast Guard from October 15, 1942 to March 7, 1946. On May 26, 1946 in Munden, Leon married his sweetheart Bonnie Kadavy spending a blessed 65 years together. In addition to farming and laying carpet, he worked for Tibbetts Bros. Funeral Home and Furniture Store for 8 years. Leon was a Vice President/Field Representative at NCK Production Credit Association for 17 years before retiring on November 1, 1983. He was an active member of The Baptist Church in Concordia serving at times as a trustee, elder, usher, and other leadership roles. Leon was an extremely faithful man and it was evident in everyday of his life. His hobbies included woodworking, golf, gardening and most of all, spending time with his family.

Leon is survived by his wife, Bonnie; daughter-in-law, Lorna Rightmeier of Meriden; five grandchildren, Amy Belden and husband Jeff of Mulvane, Beth Hysom-Strandburg and husband Bob of Las Vegas, NV, Cheri Buchanan of Lee Summit, MO, Nathan Rightmeier of Lawrence, Melissa Miller and husband Clint of Lee Summit, MO; nine great grandchildren, Taylor, Bryant, Ariel, Jacob, Jasper, Zoey, Teagan, Jorey, Rhett; brother, Lyle Rightmeier of Mankato; sister, Leona Winter of Oregon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jeanette Hysom; son, Eldon Rightmeier; and four brothers, Leonard, Lester, Loren, Lyman.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 15, 2012 in The Baptist Church in Concordia with Rev. David Fabarez officiating. Interment will be at approx. 1:30 PM Wednesday, February 15, 2012 in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Montrose. Visitation will be held from noon – 9 PM Tuesday, February 14, 2012 in the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia. Memorials are suggested The Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
