Obituary

Leonard F. Hruza was born in Raymond, NE on February 3, 1927 to Frank & Mary (Korinek) Hruza. He passed from this life on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia at the age of 82. Leonard graduated from Concordia High School. He served in the US Army as Sargent Tech. Leonard married Juanita Stanton on Dec. 30, 1950 in Concordia, KS. After the service, Leonard attended Kansas State University for 3 ½ years before taking a job with Boogaarts for 5 years. He joined the US Postal Service in 1955 and retired as Postmaster in Concordia in 1987. They lived in Salida, CO for 5 years before returning to Concordia. Leonard was a member of the First United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #76 & lifetime VFW Post #588. He served as Commander for both posts on multiple occasions. He also served as Commander for VFW Post #3820 in Salida, CO. He was a member of the Elks Club & Moose Lodge #1428. He was a lifetime member of the Cloud County Historical Society. Leonard also belonged to the National Assoc. of Retired Federal Employees. Leonard was an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife: Juanita Hruza, Concordia, KS; sons: Marlin Hruza & wife Marietta, Emporia, KS & Rodney Hruza & wife Becky, Saint Hedwig, TX; sister: Georgia Hackworth, Seward, NE; half sisters, Rosemary Abrahamson , Saugus, CA; Patricia Hruza, Lincoln, NE & Elizabeth Busch, Lincoln, NE; half brothers, James Hruza, Aurora, NE; Eugene Hruza, Estes Park, CO; Robert Hruza, Dayton, WY; John Hruza, Lincoln, NE & William Hruza, Saugus,CA; 2 grandchildren; 1 step grandchild & 3 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Elizabeth Hruza & half sister, Darlene Russell. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church, Concordia with Rev. Sandra K. Moore officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family greeting friends from 7-8 PM, Mon, August 17, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services with Military Honors by American Legion Post #76 & VFW Post #588 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or the First United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
