Letha Mae Brooks was born on Jan. 12, 1918 in Concordia, KS to John R. & Melissa A. (Boucher) Brooks. She passed from this life on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009 at Hilltop Lodge Nursing Home, Beloit, KS at the age of 91. Letha worked for the Concordia Building & Loan Assoc. before graduating from high school. She then worked for the Kansas Power Company, Cook & Cook & then the eventual Bays-Erickson-Swiercinsky, Inc. insurance company as a book keeper for 30 years until her retirement. Letha was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She is survived by nieces: Jean Nyberg & husband Terry, Beloit, KS, Coleen Robbins, Yates Center, KS & Judy Robinson & husband Dave, Ft. Walton Beach, FL; nephews: Paul Darby & wife Cheryl, Alexandria, VA, David Darby & wife Kim, El Paso, TX, Richard Brooks & wife Elaine, Atlanta, KS & Dan Brooks & wife Marylin, Wichita, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Durl & Lonnie Brooks; sister, Essie Clare Darby. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Wed., Dec. 9, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church, Concordia with Rev. Helen Rose Moore officiating. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 9 PM, Tues, Dec. 8, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. The family suggests memorials to Hilltop Lodge Nursing Home or the First Presbyterian Church.
