Lillian Johnson, 87, Concordia, was born August 21, 1921 in Superior , Nebraska to Arvid Emmanuel and Hilda (Larson) Erickson. She passed from this life Saturday, August 8, 2009 at the age of 87 years. In 1923 the family moved to Denver , her mother's home town. One of the highlights of her early adult life was singing opera with the Central City ( Colorado ) Opera Company. She maintained a love of singing and opera throughout her life Lillian met her husband Max August Johnson in Kackley , Kansas while visiting her father's family. They married five months later and she moved with him to his family's farm neat Jamestown , Kansas . There they raised five children, including two sets of twins. Lillian and Max moved to Concordia in 1963. Lillian worked at Fidelity State Bank and later at the Western Auto store. After a fall in 2006, she moved to Salina , Kansas to be closer to her children. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Fern; a brother Arvid Junior; and her husband Max, who died in 1974. She is survived by a brother Alfred, Nevada City, California; her children, Kent and wife Yvonne Gibbons, Salina, Karl, Concordia, Mark and wife Lesley, Wichita, Marcia Matyak, Topeka, and Randy and wife Venita, Emporia; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services 11:00 AM Wednesday at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. Family inurnment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery , Concordia. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Frank Carlson Library. No visitation the family chose cremation.
