Lois Darlene Harding, age 92, entered into rest on March 7, 2015 at the Marquis Place in Concordia, Kansas
She was born April 27, 1922 to Ira Jacob and Bernice Mease of Nashville, Kansas. She graduated from Isabel High School, and attended Pittsburg State Teacher's College where she received a teaching certificate. She then taught in a rural school in Barber County, Kansas. On August 1, 1942 she married Lewis Eugene "Turk" Harding. To this union a daughter Eugenia Lee "Genie" and Sammy Wayne "Sam" were born.
The family moved to Harper, Kansas in 1943. In 1953 they moved to Concordia, Kansas. After raising her children, Lois worked as a receptionist for over 27 years for Drs. Kosar and Owensby and then for Drs. Miller and Owensby. Lois was a member of the First United Methodist Church and active with the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of Eastern Star, the Moose Club, and the American Legion. She was an avid golfer, and enjoyed playing bridge with three different bridge clubs.
Survivors include her son Sam and wife Jacquie of La Grange, Illinois; granddaughter, Angela DeCoursey and husband Mark of Lenexa; son-in-law, Dave Schafer of Kansas City, Missouri; grandson, Phillip Ruth of St. Louis, Missouri; five great-grandchildren, Samuel, Nicholas, and Megan DeCoursey, and Alex and Nick Ruth. Also surviving are sisters Shirley Shaddox, and Wanda Hartman, sister-in-law Peggy Mease and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her, husband Lewis Eugene "Turk", her daughter Genie, her parents, two sisters, Marjorie Lauterbach and Thelma Shinliver and brother Ival Wayne "Pete" Mease.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Concordia, Kansas with the Rev. Tessa Zehring officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Concordia.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm with family greeting friends from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.
