Loraine W. Swenson was born on June 17, 1918 in Concordia, KS to George Leonard and Ethel Mary Myrtle Lundeen Swenson. He passed from this life on Friday, April 18, 2008 at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, KS at the age of 89.  He graduated from Concordia High School. He married Loreita M. Kaad on June 10, 1954 at the First Methodist Church in Concordia, KS. He operated and then managed the Fitzgerald Ace Hardware store for about 25 years before working as a book keeper for Humes Implement for 2 years and then as a book keeper for Cloud Ceramics until his retirement on July 9, 1981. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Concordia and was active in the Keystone Sunday School class. He also was a former Kiwanis Club member. He is survived by his wife, Loreita; son, Darrel Swenson and wife Joanne, Omaha, NE; daughter, Marlys Burke and husband Byron, Derby, KS; brothers, Lowell Swenson and wife Carolyn, Concordia, KS and Lloyd Swenson and wife Connie, Clay Center, KS; sister in law, Dorothy Swenson, Concordia, KS and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Leland and Leonard Swenson. Services will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Concordia. Burial will follow the services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia and the family will greet friends from 7-8 PM Tues. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church or the Rebecca A. Morrison House.
