Loreita M. Swenson, age 92, died Sun., Oct. 7, 2012 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia. She was born on Jan. 13, 1920 in Randall , KS to Peter & Ina (Shoemaker) Kaad. Loreita graduated from Randall High School and received her teaching certificate from Emporia State Teacher's College. She later completed her Bachelor's degree from Colorado State College of Education in Greeley , CO . Prior to her marriage she taught school in Rossville, Maple Hill, Abilene and Concordia. She married Loraine W. Swenson on June 10, 1954 at the First United Methodist Church , Concordia. He preceded her on April 18, 2008. Loreita returned to substitute teaching in 1968 at all levels. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church , United Methodist Women, Keystone Sunday School class and Delta Kappa Gamma. She is survived by her son, Darrel & wife Joanne, Omaha , NE ; daughter, Marlys Burke & hus. Byron, Derby & 5 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loraine; parents & sister, Margaret Hart. Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Wed., Oct. 10 at the First United Methodist Church , Concordia with Rev. Tessa Zehring officiating. Burial will follow the services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery . Visitation will be from 9 am to 9 pm with family greeting friends from 7-8 pm, Tues. at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to the church in care of the funeral home.
