Loren C. Koester, age 83, left this earthly life on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital, Lincoln, NE surrounded by his family.  He was born on November 14, 1936 in Concordia, KS to Frederick J. and Ruby P. (Sjogren) Koester.

Loren graduated from Concordia High School in 1954 and attended a year at Ft. Hays.

He married Norine F. Forshee on April 16, 1961 at Huscher, KS.  In their younger years, they enjoyed square dancing as members of the Aurora Starlighters.

Loren was a 3 ^rd generation farmer SE of Concordia.  He was a lifelong member of Huscher United Methodist Church and was currently attending The Baptist Church.  Loren volunteered his time and talents to several church and community boards in Cloud County.  He was an active member of Gideon's International and passionate about soil conservation and taking care of the land.

He is survived by his wife, Norine, Concordia; daughter, Karla Koester, Mannford, OK & Karin Kaiser (Kenny), Douglass; son, Roger Koester (Tricia), Concordia; brother, Gene Koester (Patty), Torrence, CA; sister, Carol Stewart (Rolland), Claflin; 6 grandchildren, Kassidy Krehbiel (Donovan), Kraemer Kaiser & Kylee Kaiser; Gavin Koester (Hannah), Garet Koester (Hannah) & Jaida Koester & 4 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Koester; his parents and a grandson, Grant Koester.

It was Loren's wishes to be cremated and a Memorial service will be Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 11:00 am at The Baptist Church, Concordia with Pastor Jonathan Peppers officiating.  Family burial of the cremains will be in the Nelson Center Cemetery, Huscher, KS.  Friends may sign the register book on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from 1-8 pm with family greeting friends from 6-7 pm at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.  The family suggests memorials to Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital, Lincoln,, NE or Gideon's International in care of the funeral home.  For online condolences please visit www.chaputbuoy.com.
