Obituary
Lorena Brunell, 95 years of age, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Sunset Nursing Center in Concordia. She was born on March 22, 1919 in Concordia to Clarence and Sadie (Empson) Hinson. Lorena married Frank Brunell on June 4, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri and raised five daughters. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Aurora, St. Anne's Altar Society, Blue Ribbon EHU Club, served many years for Cloud County Senior Citizens, and was a 4-H Leader for many years. Lorena enjoyed her family, visiting friends, sewing, and playing domino's with the ladies at Sunset Home.
Lorena is survived by 3 daughters, Jane Boling and husband Dick, Kay Cummins and husband Don, both of Aurora, Nancy Simpson and husband Ryan of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; son-in-law, Jerome Letourneau and wife Norlene of Concordia; 16 grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 6 step-great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 6 step-great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 72 years, Frank on April 15, 2011; 2 daughters, Patricia Letourneau, Anita Colbert; granddaughter, Kerry Roberts; 2 great grandsons, Evan Cote, Gabriel Letourneau; and 4 sisters, Pauline Scanland, Maxine Barker, Virginia Brunell, and Dorothy Hinson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, August 4, 2014 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Aurora with Rev. Larry Letourneau officiating. Interment will be in the St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Aurora. Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 PM Sunday, August 3, 2014 with a Vigil Service at 6 PM at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sunset Nursing Center, or Meadowlark Hospice in care of the funeral home. Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia is in charge of arrangements.
