Lorence W. Shuler was born on Dec. 30, 1932 in Wetmore, KS to Carl R. & Reba M. (Rokes) Shuler. He passed from this life on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, KS at the age of 77. Lorence married Mary R. Blochlinger on Oct. 6, 1951 in Clyde, KS. She preceded him in death on Feb. 14, 1999. Lorence worked for the Cloud Co. Highway Dept. for 44 years and 8 months. During his off time from the highway department, he farmed in Republic county. His biggest and best hobby was spending time with his children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. Lorence was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church & the Knights of Columbus, all of Concordia. He is survived by his daughters: Linda Haist & husband Ernest, Concordia, KS, Betty Holechek & husband Roger, Valley Center, KS, Avis Brooks & friend Tom, Concordia, KS, & Carla & fiancé Daniel Rosenthal, Malone, WI; sons: Larry Shuler & wife Kim, Concordia, KS, Edward Shuler & friend Angie, Wetmore, KS, John Shuler & wife Sheryl, Concordia, KS, & Carl Shuler, Kansas City, MO; sisters: Darlene McCann, Clay Center, KS & Viola Cannon, Goff, KS; 23 grandchildren & 40 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; parents; 3 brothers, Harold, Lyle & Jerry, a sister, Bonnie Joe; a son in law, Ron Rae Brooks & 1 great grandson, Samuel Lorence Myers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, Wed., May 12, 2010 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia with Rev. Barry Brinkman officiating. Burial will follow the services at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Clyde, KS. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM with a vigil service at 6:30 PM, Tues. at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church or the Mt. Calvary Cemetery Fund in care of the funeral home.
