Louis Chavey was born on Oct. 6, 1936 in St. Joseph, KS to Bernard & Helen (Tesmer) Chavey. He passed from this life on Friday, April 24, 2009 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia, KS at the age of 72. Louis attended Como grade school. He married Joy Griswold on May 19, 1953 in Clyde, KS. He was a truck driver for over 50 years and a lifelong Clyde area resident. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde and Sons of the American Legion, Clifton. Louis is survived by his wife, Joy Chavey, Clyde, KS; sons, Jim Chavey & wife Jackie, Drummond, OK, John Chavey & wife Cindy, Clyde, KS & Rick Chavey & wife Carol, Clyde, KS; daughters, Coleen Jackson, Ft. Collins, CO & Lana Cozad, Ault, CO; brothers, Gerald Chavey & wife Ima Jean, Concordia, KS & Vernon Chavey, Clyde, KS; 14 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde with Rev. Larry Letourneau officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 8 PM on Mon, April 27, 2009 at Chaput Mortuary, Clyde. Burial will follow the services at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Clyde.
